When Leonardo da Vinci wasn't busy painting, sculpting or otherwise being brilliant, he spent his free time drawing mechanical throwing machines.
Now you can match wits with da Vinci and put your coordination skills to the test with this build-it-yourself, working re-creation of his 15th Century catapult. With just an hour of assembly time, this bad boy can hurl a small clay ball over four meters, which comes in handy for ambushing pesky kid brothers or protecting cubicles from annoying coworkers.
All pieces are pre-cut and made with natural, untreated wood from sustainable forests.
Okay, we admit it. Spitballs are kind of juvenile and they do very little for your brain cells. But these are not spitballs. These are Braindrops - chemistry wonders that are a major step up from the old-school kind!
For starters, they grow up to 100 times their original size when immersed in water, can be dyed with food coloring, and (most awesome of all) can be reused repeatedly. They’re designed for launching, bouncing, throwing, smashing, spitting from a straw, and other delightfully juvenile activities we have yet to think of.
All that you need to put together this functional Catapult is all the items inside the box, a ruler, and a healthy snack to keep your brain fueled. Follow the included instructions, then load 'er up and let 'er rip! Assembly takes about an hour and is a great solo project for older kids, or as a family activity with the younger ones. See what you can fling with da Vinci's Catapult!
