Trivia, gambling and social interaction: sounds like a killer excuse for a party to us. But please, invite only your most fascinating friends because they’ll make this fast-paced game all the more entertaining. Wits & Wagers asks players the same question. Don’t know the answer? Not to worry. Just take a guess or bluff. That’s where the “wits” part comes in. Now for the “wagers” part: bet on the answer you think is correct. The trick is knowing when to bet on a long shot, when to play it safe and when to use your uncanny ability to read your friends against them. Hey, all’s fair in love, war and party games.

    How to Play:

Players or teams start with an erasable answer card and betting chips in their own color. Choose a team name and write it on your card. One player in the game is designated as the banker. The banker gets the poker chips - these will be the points for the game. Seven question cards are drawn to be used for the game. Someone reads the question and turns over the 30-second timer. Each team writes their guess - it will always be a number - on their answer card. When all the answers are turned in, they are sorted from lowest to highest on the betting mat. Now the timer is turned again and teams have 30 seconds to place a bet on which answer they think is the best without going over the correct answer - yours or someone else's. Poker chips are awarded to the teams with the closest guesses.

    How to Win:

The team with the most points after all seven rounds have been played, is the winnner.

    The Marbles BrainCoach says...

Wits and Wagers is a great game to play with any group. I like that if I don't have a clue, I can just bluff and still have a shot at winning. This form of "no pressure trivial" makes up for the fact that I've lost every game of Trivial Pursuit I've ever played.
