Okay, we admit it. Spitballs are kind of juvenile and they do very little for your brain cells. But these Spitballs are chemistry wonders that are a step up from the old-school kind. For starters, they grow up to 200 times their original size when immersed in water, can be dyed with food coloring and can be reused repeatedly. They’re designed for bouncing, throwing, smashing, spitting from a straw and other delightfully juvenile activities we have yet to think of. How it Works:

Add Spitballs to water in a bowl or cup. As they hydrate they will grow. In less than 24 hours, they will expand to over 200 times their original size. Vary size by changing the amount of water. Experiment with different temperatures, using carbonated liquids, adding salt, food coloring, etc. Spitballs can be reused, kept hydrated in a sealed container or left to dehydrate and be used again.
