Rory’s Story Cubes contains nine cubes with 54 images. Just roll the cubes and come up with a story that links together all nine face-up images. So, say you get images of a bumblebee, a turtle and a crescent moon. Your story might go like this: Once upon a time, there was a bumblebee named “Turtle,” which was a very unfortunate name for a bumblebee. However, his parents wished upon a crescent moon for a turtle and got a bumblebee instead….hey, don’t laugh. There are no wrong answers here. Just hours of creative play that can serve as an ice-breaker, literacy development, mental workout and more.

The Idea

Roll the cubes and come up with a story that links together all the images.

The Brains

Use your Broca's area to develop a narrative for a creative, interesting story.

The A-Ha

Great for writer's block, building literacy and an ice breaker at events.

Brain Health Expert Says

This game requires you to think on your feet to construct a creative, interesting story based on the images seen on the cubes. Broca’s area, responsible for speech production, and the temporal lobe, important for visual shape recognition, are activated when you play this game.

The Brain Coach Says

Neverending stories all rolled up into a tiny box. No two stories are ever the same.

Surprise results

This should be considered by therapists as a useful tool to discover underlying problems. Children come up with the most revealing stories when not thinking about themselves but just "making up" a picture cube story. It happened to me, unintentionally, when playing with a foster child.

A Great Gift

I have bought about four of these...I love playing (or should I say storytelling) with my two young boys. We all get into it and hear stories that we would have never come up with if it were not for the story cubes! Great idea!

5 star rating. Great for parties and more!

Far Out!

We thoroughly enjoy the game... fun variations of teams, individuals, round robbin...The only complaint would be that the images are sometimes a little vague. We spent a lot of time just trying to interpret them.
