- Infinite building fun Review by JJLI

I looked at a lot of marble runs. While I really wanted a Quadrilla for my kids since I like wood, hundreds of dollars for build-on sets seemed excessive. I wasn't so sure I would be satisfied w/the Q-Ba Maze since it doesn't have long winding spirals or long sweeping tracks and lacks a variety of size in the pieces. Cheaper marble runs also of plastic had varied reviews w/complaints the pieces don't fit together well. While $40 seems like a lot for plastic, when compared to a Lego set, this is a good deal. You get a lot of pieces, plenty for 2 kids to build 2 small runs at the same time or for a family to build a bigger run. The pieces seem fairly sturdy and don't warp when you're sliding and stacking the pieces together.Price Value Quality Brain Worthiness
My entire family had a blast building, exploring how to make the marbles go in different directions. My kids (3 and 6) didn't want to go to bed! While this was a gift for the 3 year old, I would say a good starter age is 5. While my 3 year old can definitely put the pieces together, she doesn't quite grasp how to construct a pathway for the marbles. But she still has lots of fun watching the marbles go.
One tip for how to get the marbles to "go" better: put multiple marbles down the run at the same time. They marbles will jostle each other, and you're more likely to have the marbles go in opposite directions and down different paths. The marbles do 'catch' sometimes, but the shape at the bottom of the cubes helps the indecisive marble to eventually 'go'.
4 stars for quality because the pieces are still plastic and while they fit together well, you can still have gaps sometimes, which biases how the marbles go. (Posted on 1/6/13) - recommend Review by m
