If there were a popularity contest for games, QUARTO! would be class president, prom king and head cheerleader all rolled into one.

The object of one of the world’s most award-winning games is seemingly simple: outwit other players by lining up four pieces with common characteristics. But, as with all good-for-your-brain games, there’s a catch: your opponent chooses the piece you play with.

QUARTO! not only tests your strategic, visual perception and deductive reasoning skills, this handsome, crafted-from-wood game also looks cunningly cute on a coffee table. Smart and sexy. Head cheerleaders everywhere would be jealous.

The Idea

Getting four in a row is easy, but not so much when your opponent picks what you play.

The Brains

The A-Ha

A player can win with four in a row of any attribute: size, shape, color, or top.

Brain Health Expert Says

Test your judgment, organizational skills and ability to categorize as you keep track of the multiple attributes of the playing pieces.

The Brain Coach Says

I love that Quarto combines strategy and visual perception. I love how the game changes with each move and that you choose your opponents pieces for them. It's also very beautiful, easy to learn and I can play it with my niece up to my Grandpa.

A sneaky, strategic Simon Says.

Awesome Game

Great strategy game

gift idea that rocked!

I try to give a gift , as we all do, that will be USED by the recipient. I had a wedding to go to last month , and I stumbled into Marbles to kill time , as I waited on the nail salon to open. I never would have originally thought of a game being a wedding gift, but after the salesperson showed me about this game, I thought it may be a good idea? The young couple getting married plays games with their church group( I heard them say) so I bought it. This game is wooden, so has a nice value feel.
I got a call from the new bride's mother and she said THEY LOVED IT!
Who knew?
So I wanted to share that this may be an option if you are searching for that elusive wedding gift? And thanks Marbles for having that great young man show it to me.

Great Game!

This is a great game - very simple to understand but endless in how complex you want to think while playing. It's a little pricey, but it's very well made and has a real feeling of quality to the construction so it's probably worth it. I bought it on impulse in the store and have no regrets.

Awesome Game

Our family loves playing this game. This game is a great for those who love strategy. There are so many variables, you really have to stay of top of it and try to keep track of all the variables that can win. As one of the other reviewers said... "as long as you keep your eyes open and your brain focused, you can take on any opponent." Enjoy!!!

How To Play

How to Play: There are 16 pieces that do not belong to either player. Each piece has a variation of four groups of physical traits: (Color: light or dark, Shape: <em>round or square, Height: tall or short, Fill: solid or hollow). In turn, players choose any piece and hand it to their opponent. The player who receives the piece places it on any of the 16 empty spaces on the board. How to Win: The first player to put down a piece that creates a row of four pieces that contain the same trait is the winner. For example: Any four round pieces in a row is a win; any four solid pieces in a row is a win; any four dark pieces in a row is a win; etc.
