Pick Up Sticks is a real brain pick-me-up that’s been stimulating synapses since the 12th Century. To get your critical thinking and hand-eye coordination skills pumping, just dump the colorful wooden sticks on any large, flat surface.

Then, try to pick up a stick without moving any others in the pile—not even a smidge. Because if you move another stick, your turn is over. If you successfully pick one up, keep it and go again.

Each color is worth a different number of points, so you can play it safe or take your chances trying to pick up a stick with a higher point value. The player with the most points wins.

The Idea

Try to pick up a stick without moving any others in the pile.

The Brains

Fine motor skills are put to the test as you try not to touch the other sticks.

The A-Ha

Move another stick & your turn is over; each color is worth a different amount.

Brain Health Expert Says

Strengthens spatial reasoning and boosts fine motor skills.

The Brain Coach Says

Easy to learn, difficult to master. One of the biggest criteria for choosing our games here at Marbles and Pick up Sticks does not disappoint. We play it at our family cabin in the summertime and the whole family joins in; 4-80 year olds get a kick out of it!

A classic worth re-visiting.

Wow when I saw these in marbles I couldn't believe it. I had to take these home to my kids to show them what they were missing out on. We love playing this game after dinner. We can't get enough of it. Oh yea did i mention they are wooden!!!

From Marbles:

Hello! Believe it or not, dexterity is a major part of your brain! It's important to keep the physical parts of your body sharp as it is to keep the invisible "thinking powers" in tip-top shape. Congratulations to your grand-daughter! Perhaps it was Beginner's Luck? :)

How To Play

Find a large flat surface to play on and hold all of the sticks in a vertical bunch. Let go and see how the sticks fall down. Then, take turns picking up the sticks one at a time without moving any other stick in the process. If another stick moves, even a tiny bit, move on to the next player. The sticks also come with a leveled point system: pink sticks are worth 2 points, orange is worth 3, green is 5, 10 for turquoise, and the one blue stick is worth a whopping 20 points. Whoever has the points at the end wins the game!
