Why Does the Brain Fitness Program Focus on Auditory Processing?
Our brains construct our experiences and memories from what we sense in the world around us. Hearing is one of the most important of our senses in this regard. Just think of how much that you want to remember comes in through listening—a great conversation, a favorite new song, a funny joke, and so much more.
The better our brains absorb what we hear, the better we can react to and remember it. Yet with age and certain clinical conditions, our brains absorb less.
The Brain Fitness Program speeds up and sharpens this crucial root of brain health and fitness. This is a very different approach from many other programs that focus on drilling the brain on memory tasks or teaching the brain "tricks" to remember. It's what makes the Brain Fitness Program uniquely effective.
Proven in Labs
Unlike most brain training software, all of Posit Science's programs have been proven effective in gold-standard clinical studies.
The largest on the Brain Fitness Program for healthy adults was led by researchers at Mayo Clinic and the University of Southern California and was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Among other things, this study demonstrated that the Brain Fitness Program:
- Improves memory by an average of 10 years
- Speeds up auditory processing by an average of 131%
- 90% of people aged 65+ attained processing speeds typical of people under age 40
Importantly, results show the improvements weren't just in the processing skills the exercises trained directly. It generalized to memory.
