As a brain fitness store, we have a reputation to uphold of only selling the brainy best to our customers. Every product we carry has been expertly reviewed by neurologists to ensure that they all pack a major mind workout! Of course, it’d be a lie if we said there weren’t a handful of products that stole our hearts when they graced our shelves. Magic Labyrinth, Pentago, and Qwirkle are three of our absolute favorites that also happen to be widely recognized as being the best of the best. All three are winners of coveted ribbons and medallions for providing major fun and undeniable educational, brain boosting benefits!

Magic Labyrinth:

Magic Labyrinth is an inventive and exciting memory game where players must navigate a maze using only their memory. Make too many wrong turns and you might wake the wizard up! Collect the artifacts before the wizard awakes to win.

  • Winner of the 2009 Kinderspeil des Jahres, considered the Children’s Board Game Academy Award!
  • Winner of the 2010 Arets Barnespill, another Game of the Year Award.

Pentago:

A mind boggling strategy game out of Sweden, take turns placing a token in a hole and twist one of the quadrants to the left or right. As the board is constantly changing, so must your strategy! The first player to get five of their colored tokens in a row wins.  Pentago has won numerous awards, but just to name a few…:

  • 2006 Mensa Mind Game Award for educational excellence.
  • 2005 Game of the Year in Sweden.
  • 2006 Best Strategy Game, Toy of the Year in France.

Qwirkle:

Sharing characteristics with Rummikub and Scrabble, take turns placing colored shape tiles in a grid like pattern, making sure that each row and column only have one characteristic in common whether it’s a shape or color to score points. Complete a column or row using all six colors or shapes and receive bonus points.

  • Winner of the prestigious Spiel des Jahres in 2011.
  • Parent’s Choice Gold Award
  • Major Fun Award

Close runner-ups are Hive and Tsuro. Hive has been referred to as “Nature’s Chess.” The brilliant and simplistic design compliments the deep, complex, strategic, and cutthroat nature of gameplay. Tsuro is another awesome strategy game, with a little bit of zen as you find your way on the “path.” Lay down tile cards that create a path for your marker stone to travel, just don’t let your opponents make your marker stone fly off the board!

What are you waiting for? Reward your brain with these awesome award winners!
