The Memory Palace

I’ve never been one to take lists to the store with me. I never needed to because I have always been able to keep all of that information in my head and recall it when necessary. I used to keep all of my appointments in my head as well. Not so much anymore. Alzheimer’s Disease: Would you want to know?

Alzheimer’s Disease has become a major topic of discussion in the US. With an increase in the number of cases (every 69 seconds someone new is diagnosed with AD in the US) and the rise in age-related health care costs, there has been a push for more research and better diagnostic tools. According to the Alzheimer’s Association’s website, 5.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), and it is now the number 6 cause of death in the US. We tend to associate play solely with childhood. Kids are supposed to play, but when adults play it is often viewed as “goofing off” or being unproductive. However, play is highly beneficial to our brains and can ultimately improve our productivity.
