Sometimes a little wooden robot just needs a break. Cubebot spends his whole life stress relieving and helping his owners exercise their fine motor coordination and visual processing centers as they twist his parts into unique shapes. It’s a big job for a little cherry wood robot, and he takes it seriously.
But as every brainy worker knows, sometimes you just need to recharge and relax. He gave it some thought and remembered that it’s a big year for his cousins in Washington DC, the Yoshino cherry trees, who are celebrating the 100th anniversary of being given to the city of Washington DC by Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo, Japan.
So Cubebot packed himself up and headed for DC to see his beautiful cousins in full bloom and to do a little sightseeing around his nation’s capital.
Cubebot hopped a tour trolley and headed down to the Jefferson Memorial, where most of the more than 5,000 Yoshino cherries live. He was really looking forward to seeing all of his distant cousins in their full splendor.
When he got there, he found that the cherry blossoms came early this year, so not all of his cousins still had their blooms, but it was good to see them anyway, and a beautiful day to explore.
After saying his goodbyes at the Jefferson Memorial, it was back to the trolley and on to his next destination, a visit to the Lincoln Monument.
He spotted the Washington Monument in the distance, and fondly remembered how Washington was famous for admitting he chopped down a cherry tree, wondering silently if one of his ancestors might be made from its wood.

Finally after touring the rest of the city, he ended his long day with a stop into Union Station, where he went down to the food court to grab some dinner.
He met a new friend who works in the restaurant. He wasn’t much of a talker, but he added a nice flavor to his dinner experience!
Overall it was a beautiful day in a city filled with family, friends, history and adventure. He’ll head back home revitalized and ready to be the great little stress-relieving robot he loves to be.

*No cherry trees were harmed in this Cubebot adventure. Great care was taken to ensure that the tree and its blooms were left as they were found.
