BrainCoach Holiday Favorites – Donna

I saw Telestrations at Marbles and thought…hmmm I don’t get it.  So I had the perfect solution!  Bring it to the neighborhood game night, and a hit was born!

I don’t know the last time I laughed that hard!  Telestrations is a game that is a combination of telephone and Pictionary.  Everyone in the game gets a dry erase pad, then a person rolls the dice and everyone picks a card and writes down a word that corresponds to the number that was rolled.   Then you pass your board to the person on your left.  Now everyone has a new pad and looks at the word that was written down and has 1 minute to draw the word.  After the time has run out, you pass your pad to the person on your left who must now guess what you drew.  This continues with the guessing and drawing until you get your original pad back.  So for instance, in a game that I played, the original word was home movies.  The first person drew a house with an old fashion movie camera on it and then passed the pad to the next player.  Their guess was a house being pulled by a helicopter.  Which I then had to try and draw… well that turned into a guess of a gingerbread house…. which when the next person tried to draw, it looked like a castle.  So the final guess was castle… far from the original word of home movies.

What makes this game so funny is that once you get your pad back and you flip through the pages, you see why people guessed what they guessed.   We ended up playing this game for over 2 hours laughing so much!  It is now one of our favorites!
